IMaR-D
Irish Marine and Maritime Resilience and Digitalisation

IMaR-D is an 18-month scoping study exploring how digital technologies, governance frameworks and cyber-resilience measures can strengthen Ireland’s marine and maritime sectors. The project examines digitalisation across ports, shipping, offshore renewable energy, aquaculture and environmental monitoring, while assessing emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, digital twins, sensor networks and integrated data platforms.
The project aims to identify gaps and opportunities in digital infrastructure, interoperability, governance, cybersecurity and skills. Drawing on international best practice and engagement with Irish stakeholders, IMaR-D will support the development of a structured approach to maritime resilience and digital readiness and provide practical recommendations for a more secure, sustainable and future-ready maritime sector.
ÉireOcean-TWIN
AI-Enhanced 4D Digital Twin of Ireland’s Marine and Coastal Systems

ÉireOcean-TWIN aims to develop an AI-enhanced four-dimensional Digital Twin of Ireland’s marine and coastal systems. The project will integrate major marine datasets, including INFOMAR seabed mapping, Copernicus Marine forecasts, tide-gauge and buoy observations, with hydrodynamic modelling and advanced artificial intelligence to support improved forecasting and decision-making.
The Digital Twin will provide an interactive environment for exploring scenarios such as coastal flooding, marine heatwaves, storm surges, sea-level rise and seabed change. Advanta Blue Solutions contributes across the project and leads work on data integration and high-performance computing for coastal and seabed forecasting, helping develop improved early-warning and climate-service capabilities for Ireland.
